CI aims to ensure that water allocation, governance, policies, institutions, and financing are in place to secure equitable access, sound water resource management, environmental flows and biodiversity conservation. It implements IWRM pilot projects, conducts research and data analysis of freshwater threats and suggests effective conservation interventions, develops a toolkit for improved decision-making in water resource management, implements payment-for-ecosystem-services (PES) projects and creates new markets for water, demonstrates cost effective water practices and develops natural water infrastructure options.
