Transboundary Water Management Database

ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations)

Through its working group on Water Resource Management, established in 2003, ASEAN promotes networking and engage in collaborative action towards the practical implementation of IWRM. It facilitates the exchange of relevant information, expertise, technology, and know-how among water resource agencies of member countries and provides training in formulation and management of projects and execute awareness raising campaigns. Some currently prioritized actions include managing and monitoring marine water quality (through the implementation of the Asian Marine Water Quality: Management Guidelines and Monitoring Manual), developing guidelines for management of transboundary protected areas and conducting climate change impact assessments supporting the formulation of adaptation and mitigation plans.
